Equipment

  • Champagne Flutes

Ingredients

  • 4 ounces apple cider chilled, preferably fresh and unfiltered
  • 4 ounces champagne or prosecco chilled, dry variety preferred
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon sugar for rim garnish (optional)
  • 1 apple slice thin, for garnish
  • 1 cinnamon stick for garnish (optional)
  • 1 dash ground cinnamon or nutmeg for dusting (optional)

Instructions

  • If using the cinnamon sugar rim, moisten the edge of your champagne flute with a small piece of apple or a drop of cider. Dip the moistened rim into a shallow plate of cinnamon sugar, rotating gently to coat evenly.
  • Ensure both your apple cider and champagne are thoroughly chilled to at least 40°F. For an extra-special touch, place glasses in the freezer for 5-10 minutes before serving.
  • Fill each prepared champagne flute approximately half full with chilled apple cider (about 4 ounces). Pour slowly against the side of the glass to preserve the sugar rim and minimize foam.
  • Gently top off each glass with champagne or prosecco (about 4 ounces), pouring slowly at an angle to preserve carbonation. The ideal ratio is 1:1, but you can adjust to your preference.
  • Add a thin apple slice to the rim of each glass and insert a cinnamon stick if desired. For an elevated presentation, lightly dust the top with a pinch of ground cinnamon or nutmeg.
  • Serve immediately while the champagne is still perfectly effervescent.

Notes

- For a non-alcoholic version, substitute sparkling apple cider for the champagne
- Pear cider can be used for a subtle flavor variation
- Add ½ oz spiced rum for an extra warming kick
- Fresh-pressed local cider provides better flavor than mass-produced varieties
- Carbonated cocktails lose bubbles quickly, so serve immediately after preparation
