- 2 cans apple pie filling 21 oz each
- 1 box yellow cake mix 15.25 oz
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter melted (1 stick)
Optional Flavor Enhancers
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon optional
- 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg optional
- 1 tbsp vanilla extract optional
- 1/2 cup chopped pecans or walnuts optional
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
Lightly coat a 9×13-inch baking dish with non-stick cooking spray.
Spread both cans of apple pie filling evenly across the bottom of your prepared baking dish. If using optional cinnamon, nutmeg, or vanilla, fold them into the apple mixture.
Evenly distribute the dry cake mix powder over the apple layer. Do not mix it in.
If adding nuts, sprinkle them over the cake mix layer.
Pour the melted butter evenly over the cake mix layer, trying to cover as much of the dry mix as possible using a zigzag pattern.
Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the edges are bubbling.
Allow the cake to rest for 15 minutes before serving.
