Crescent Roll Ingredients
- 1 can refrigerated crescent rolls 8 oz
- 1 can apple pie filling 21 oz, or 2 cups homemade
- 2 tablespoons butter melted
Cinnamon-Sugar Mixture
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg optional
For Serving (Optional)
- vanilla ice cream for serving
- whipped cream for serving
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a small bowl, combine the granulated sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg if using.
Unroll the crescent roll dough on a clean, lightly floured surface and separate into triangles along the perforations. Gently press and stretch each triangle slightly larger.
Place approximately 1 tablespoon of apple pie filling near the wide end of each crescent triangle.
Starting from the wide end, carefully roll each crescent toward the pointed end, tucking in any escaped filling as you go. Place the rolls on your prepared baking sheet, leaving at least 2 inches between each one.
Brush the tops of each crescent roll with melted butter, then generously sprinkle with the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
Bake in your preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the crescents have puffed up and turned golden brown.
Allow to cool for 5-7 minutes before serving, optionally with ice cream or whipped cream.
For a fresher alternative, make your own filling by dicing 2-3 medium apples and sautéing them with 2 tablespoons butter, 3 tablespoons brown sugar, and 1 teaspoon cinnamon until tender (about 8 minutes). Allow to cool completely before using.
Drain excess liquid from canned filling to prevent sogginess.
Keep the crescent dough refrigerated until ready to use for easier handling.
These can be prepared ahead up to the point of baking and refrigerated for up to 12 hours before baking.
