Equipment

  • Wooden Skewers
  • Baking Sheet
  • Parchment Paper

Ingredients

Fruits

  • 2 bananas firm but ripe, cut into 1-inch chunks
  • 16 fresh strawberries hulled
  • 1 cup fresh pineapple chunks
  • 1 cup green grapes

Toppings

  • 1/2 cup dark chocolate chips melted
  • 1/4 cup chopped nuts walnuts, almonds, or peanuts
  • 8-10 wooden skewers 8-inch length

Optional Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp honey or maple syrup for drizzling
  • 2 tbsp unsweetened coconut flakes

Instructions

  • Wash all fruits thoroughly under cold running water. Pat dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture. Slice bananas into 1-inch chunks, hull strawberries (leaving them whole), and cut pineapple into bite-sized pieces if not already done.
  • Place chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl. Heat in 30-second intervals at 50% power, stirring between each interval until smooth. For an extra-smooth consistency, add 1/2 teaspoon of coconut oil to the melted chocolate.
  • Thread the fruit onto wooden skewers in an appealing pattern. Try starting with a grape, followed by banana, strawberry, pineapple, and repeating. Leave about 2 inches of space at one end for easy handling.
  • Place assembled kabobs on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Drizzle with melted chocolate using a spoon or piping bag. While the chocolate is still warm, sprinkle with chopped nuts and optional coconut flakes.
  • For the best texture contrast, refrigerate kabobs for 10-15 minutes until the chocolate sets. Serve immediately after chilling for the perfect balance of temperatures and textures.

Notes

- Select bananas with minimal brown spots to ensure they stay firm on the skewers.
- Make sure to thoroughly dry fruit after washing to help the chocolate adhere properly.
- These kabobs are best enjoyed fresh but can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 8 hours.
- For make-ahead preparation, assemble fruit on skewers without chocolate and add toppings just before serving.
- Brush banana chunks with lemon juice to prevent browning if not serving immediately.
