For the Wings
- 2 pounds chicken wings split at joints with tips removed
- 1 tablespoon baking powder aluminum-free
- 1 teaspoon sea salt
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
For the Sweet Heat Sauce
- 1/3 cup mayonnaise substitute Greek yogurt for a lighter option
- 3 tablespoons sweet chili sauce
- 1 tablespoon sriracha adjust according to heat preference
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 2 teaspoons rice vinegar
- 2 green onions finely sliced
Optional Garnish
- chopped cilantro
- lime wedges
- sesame seeds
Pat the chicken wings completely dry with paper towels. Place wings in a large bowl and toss with baking powder, salt, garlic powder, paprika, and black pepper until evenly coated.
Allow the seasoned wings to rest uncovered for 10 minutes at room temperature.
Preheat your air fryer to 380°F (193°C) for 3 minutes. Arrange the wings in a single layer in the air fryer basket, being careful not to overcrowd. You'll likely need to cook them in batches.
Cook the wings for 10 minutes, then flip them over and continue cooking for another 10-15 minutes until they reach an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C) and are golden brown and crispy.
While the wings are cooking, whisk together mayonnaise, sweet chili sauce, sriracha, honey, and rice vinegar in a bowl until smooth. Add half of the sliced green onions and stir to combine.
Once the wings are cooked, transfer them to a large bowl. Pour about two-thirds of the sweet heat sauce over the wings and toss until evenly coated. Reserve the remaining sauce for dipping.
Garnish with remaining green onions, cilantro, and sesame seeds if desired. Serve immediately with lime wedges.
The secret to crispy wings is thoroughly drying them with paper towels and using baking powder in the coating.
Avoid overcrowding the air fryer to ensure proper air circulation.
For meal prep, cook the wings and prepare the sauce separately, then combine just before serving.
Leftover wings can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheated in the air fryer at 350°F for 3-4 minutes to restore crispiness.
