Ingredients
  

For the crust

  • 36 Oreo cookies regular, not Double Stuf
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter melted

For the cream cheese layer

  • 8 oz cream cheese softened, room temperature
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 8 oz whipped topping like Cool Whip, divided

For the chocolate pudding layer

  • 2 packages instant chocolate pudding mix 3.9 oz packages
  • 2-3/4 cups cold milk

For the topping

  • Remaining whipped topping
  • 2 tablespoons chocolate shavings or mini chocolate chips

Instructions
 

  • Process Oreo cookies (filling included) in a food processor until they reach fine crumbs. Mix with melted butter until the mixture resembles wet sand.
  • Press firmly into the bottom of a 9x13 inch baking dish, creating an even layer with the back of a measuring cup for optimal compression.
  • Beat softened cream cheese with an electric mixer until light and fluffy (approximately 2 minutes). Gradually add sugar, milk, and vanilla, continuing to beat until smooth.
  • Gently fold in half of the whipped topping using a spatula with a figure-eight motion. Spread this mixture evenly over the crust, taking extra care to reach the corners of the dish.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the chocolate pudding mix and cold milk for 2 minutes until it begins to thicken. Let it set for 5 minutes.
  • Pour and spread the pudding mixture over the cream cheese layer, using an offset spatula for the smoothest finish.
  • Spread the remaining whipped topping over the pudding layer, creating decorative swirls if desired. Sprinkle with chocolate shavings or mini chocolate chips.
  • Cover carefully with plastic wrap, ensuring it doesn't touch the top layer. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours, though overnight chilling yields the most defined layers and allows flavors to meld perfectly.
