  • 2 ripe mangoes peeled and cubed (about 2 cups)
  • 1 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice approximately 6-8 lemons
  • 1-2 red chilies seeds removed and thinly sliced
  • 1/3 cup honey or maple syrup adjustable to taste
  • 4 cups cold water
  • 1 cup ice cubes

Instructions
 

  • Peel and cube your ripe mangoes, ensuring you get all the sweet flesh from around the pit.
  • Carefully slice your chilies, removing the seeds and white membrane unless you prefer an intensely spicy drink. Place the sliced chilies in a small bowl with 1/4 cup of the lemon juice and let them infuse for 5-10 minutes.
  • In a blender, combine the mango chunks with the remaining lemon juice and honey. Blend until completely smooth, about 45-60 seconds.
  • Pour the mango mixture into a large pitcher and add the chili-infused lemon juice (straining out the chili pieces if desired, or leave them in for continued flavor development). Add cold water and stir thoroughly.
  • Taste and adjust sweetness or tartness according to your preference.
  • Refrigerate your Mango Chilli Lemonade for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld and develop.
  • When ready to serve, pour over ice in tall glasses, garnishing with fresh mint leaves and lemon slices. For an Instagram-worthy presentation, add a thin slice of chili to the rim of each glass.

- Frozen mango chunks work perfectly when fresh mangoes aren't in season
- Agave nectar or simple syrup can replace honey for a vegan option
