Equipment

  • Punch Bowl or Beverage Dispenser
  • Sharp Knife
  • Whisk

Ingredients

Base Ingredients

  • 4 cups apple cider fresh pressed for best flavor
  • 2 cups pear nectar Kerns or R.W. Knudsen brands recommended
  • 2 cups sparkling water or club soda
  • 1 cup cranberry juice 100% juice, not cocktail
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice

Spices and Fruits

  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 3 pears thinly sliced (Bartlett or Anjou preferred)
  • 2 apples thinly sliced (Honeycrisp or Gala preferred)
  • 1 orange thinly sliced

For Serving

  • cinnamon sticks for garnish
  • ice cubes

Instructions

  • Wash all fruit thoroughly. Slice pears and apples thinly (about ⅛-inch thickness), discarding cores. Cut the orange into thin circular slices. Reserve some fruit slices for garnish.
  • In a large punch bowl or beverage dispenser, combine the apple cider, pear nectar, and cranberry juice.
  • Sprinkle the ground cinnamon and nutmeg over the juice mixture, then add the fresh lemon juice. Whisk gently until the spices are fully incorporated.
  • Add the remaining sliced pears, apples, and oranges to the punch bowl. If time permits, refrigerate the mixture for 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
  • Just before serving, add the sparkling water or club soda and gently stir once to combine.
  • Fill glasses with ice, pour the punch, and garnish each glass with a cinnamon stick and the reserved fruit slices.

Notes

For a make-ahead version, prepare everything except the sparkling water and ice up to 3 days in advance. Add the carbonated element just before serving.
For a sugar-free version, use unsweetened apple cider and diet ginger ale instead of sparkling water.
To prevent apple and pear slices from browning when preparing in advance, toss them with a tablespoon of lemon juice.
For an adult version, add 2 cups of prosecco or 1 cup of bourbon, reducing the sparkling water accordingly.
