Main Ingredients
- 2 packages (8 oz each) refrigerated crescent roll dough
- 48 cocktail-sized smoked sausages about 14 oz total
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter melted
Toppings & Wash
- sesame seeds, poppy seeds, or everything bagel seasoning optional, for topping
- 1 egg beaten with 1 tablespoon water (for egg wash)
- 1 tablespoon water for egg wash
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone baking mats.
Unroll the crescent roll dough and separate it along the perforations. Cut each triangle into 3 smaller triangles. You'll get 24 triangles from each package.
Place a cocktail sausage on the wide end of each dough triangle and roll toward the pointed end. The dough should wrap around the sausage about 1.5 times.
Place each wrapped sausage seam-side down on your prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 1 inch apart.
Beat the egg with 1 tablespoon of water to create an egg wash. Brush the tops of each pig in a blanket with the egg wash, then sprinkle with your chosen toppings if using.
Bake for 12-15 minutes until the dough is golden brown and fully cooked.
For a make-ahead option, prepare but don't bake, freeze on a baking sheet, then transfer to a container once frozen. They'll stay fresh for up to 3 months. When ready to bake, add 5-7 minutes to the cooking time if baking from frozen.
Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. For best results when reheating, use a 350°F oven for 7-8 minutes rather than microwaving to maintain crispiness.
