Matcha Base
- 1 tsp ceremonial grade matcha powder sifted
- 2 tbsp hot water 175°F/80°C - not boiling
Pumpkin Milk Mixture
- 1 cup milk of choice oat milk recommended for creaminess
- 2 tbsp pure pumpkin puree not pumpkin pie filling
- 1/2 tsp pumpkin pie spice
- 1-2 tsp maple syrup or honey adjust to taste
- 1/4 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 pinch sea salt enhances flavor profile
Optional Garnish
- whipped cream regular or coconut-based

Sift the matcha powder into a wide mug or small bowl to prevent clumping. Add about 2 tablespoons of hot water (175°F/80°C – not boiling). Using a bamboo whisk or small regular whisk, vigorously whisk in an "M" or "W" motion until frothy and completely dissolved.
In a small saucepan, combine your milk of choice, pumpkin puree, pumpkin pie spice, sweetener, vanilla, and salt. Heat over medium-low heat, whisking continuously until the mixture is steaming but not boiling (about 3 minutes).
Pour the heated pumpkin milk mixture over your prepared matcha base. Stir gently to combine while preserving the matcha's frothy texture.
If desired, top with a dollop of whipped cream and a light dusting of pumpkin pie spice. Serve immediately.
For an extra silky texture, use an immersion blender for 10 seconds to fully incorporate the pumpkin puree in the milk mixture.
Using water that's too hot (over 175°F/80°C) will make your matcha bitter.
You can prepare the pumpkin milk mixture in advance and store in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Simply reheat and add to fresh matcha when ready to serve.
