Equipment

  • 9x13-inch Baking Dish
  • Parchment Paper
  • Serrated knife
  • Mixing Bowls

Ingredients

  • 12 slider rolls or Hawaiian sweet rolls kept connected
  • 1 pound thinly sliced deli roast beef medium-rare works best for juiciness
  • 8 ounces sharp cheddar cheese sliced or shredded
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons prepared horseradish
  • 1/4 cup butter melted
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon poppy seeds
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9x13 inch baking dish with parchment paper for easier cleanup.
  • Using a large serrated knife, slice the connected rolls horizontally (keeping them intact), creating one large top and bottom piece. Place the bottom half in your prepared baking dish.
  • In a small bowl, combine the mayonnaise and horseradish, stirring until smooth.
  • Spread the horseradish-mayo mixture evenly over the bottom half of the rolls. Layer with the roast beef, folding each slice for height and texture. Top with an even layer of cheddar cheese, ensuring edge-to-edge coverage.
  • In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the butter. Whisk in Worcestershire sauce, dijon mustard, poppy seeds, garlic powder, onion powder, and dried thyme to create a fragrant butter sauce.
  • Place the top half of the rolls over the cheese layer. Slowly pour the butter mixture over the tops of the rolls, allowing it to seep down into the crevices.
  • Cover with foil and bake for 15 minutes. Then remove the foil and bake for an additional 5 minutes until the tops are golden brown and the cheese is completely melted.
  • Let the sliders rest for 5 minutes before cutting along the seams of the rolls to separate. Serve immediately while still warm.

Notes

Feel free to substitute Swiss or provolone cheese instead of cheddar for a different flavor profile.
For a lighter option, Greek yogurt mixed with a touch of lemon juice can replace mayonnaise.
These sliders can be assembled up to 24 hours in advance and refrigerated, covered. Add the butter mixture just before baking for best results.
Leftover baked sliders can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days in the refrigerator.
