Equipment

  • Large Mixing Bowl
  • Electric Mixer
  • Oven-Safe Dish (for hot serving)

Ingredients

  • 8 oz cream cheese softened
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 8 oz lump crab meat drained and flaked
  • 8 oz small shrimp cooked, peeled, and deveined
  • 2 tbsp Old Bay seasoning
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
  • 2 tbsp fresh chives chopped
  • 1/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Instructions

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, sour cream, and mayonnaise. Beat with an electric mixer until smooth and creamy, about 2 minutes.
  • Fold in the Old Bay seasoning, garlic powder, onion powder, and lemon juice.
  • Gently fold in the crab meat and shrimp, being careful not to break up the lumps too much. Pat the seafood dry with paper towels first to prevent excess moisture.
  • Stir in the chopped chives and shredded cheddar cheese. Reserve a small amount of chives for garnish if desired.
  • For cold dip: Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow flavors to meld before serving.
  • For hot dip: Transfer mixture to an oven-safe dish, sprinkle with extra cheese if desired, and bake at 350°F for 15 minutes until bubbly and lightly browned on top.

Notes

- Greek yogurt can replace sour cream for a tangier, protein-rich alternative
- Imitation crab meat works in a pinch, though real crab meat offers superior flavor
- For a dairy-free version, use dairy-free cream cheese and mayonnaise
- Cajun seasoning can substitute for Old Bay if you prefer a spicier kick
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days
- Do not freeze this dip as the texture will become watery upon thawing
