  • Fold in the sour cream, 1 cup of cheddar cheese, mozzarella, white parts of the green onions, minced garlic, Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, and cayenne pepper. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Gently fold the crumbled bacon (except the reserved portion) into your cheese mixture.
  • Transfer the mixture to a 1-quart baking dish and sprinkle with the remaining ½ cup of cheddar cheese.
  • Bake for 20 minutes or until the edges are bubbling and the top is golden brown.
  • Sprinkle with the reserved bacon crumbles and green parts of the green onions. Let stand for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

For a lighter version, you can substitute Neufchâtel for cream cheese and Greek yogurt for sour cream. Turkey bacon works as a leaner alternative to regular bacon.
This dip can be prepared up to 24 hours in advance and refrigerated. Add an extra 5-7 minutes to the baking time when cooking from cold.
Serve with crusty bread, fresh vegetables, pretzel rods, or pita chips for a complete appetizer experience.
